We had spent all of April telling each other that Rylan could be an only child, that we didn't want to spend our time worrying about cycling. We had decided we were done. On Friday April 29th, I realized AF was a few days late. That's not my style, so I took a test the next morning. We had to get up early to take Rylan to the circus, so I was in a hurry POAS, and hopped in the shower. When I got out, I checked the stick, and to my surprise, there were 2 lines! I ran into the bedroom and screamed for Joe to come into the bathroom. He was still asleep, so when I frantically said to look at the counter, he assumed there was a spider and started trying to catch it. I finally got his attention and told him to pick up the test. What a goof ball! Shocked, we all got ready for the circus and had a great time.

That Monday (5/2/11) I went in for a blood test, which came back positive at 438. Two days later I went back in for a repeat to check for doubling and it was 1,003.6, more than double! Woo-hoo! Breathed a sigh of relief. 2 days later, I went in for our first ultrasound which showed a sac and yolk. That weekend was Mother's Day, which now I had even more reason to celebrate... but, I started spotting. So, on Monday (9th), I went back in for another u/s just to check. All was well, and baby had doubled in size. That's the point where my doctor decided to have me come in once a week for an u/s to set my mind at ease.

So, on the 13th of May, the u/s showed a fetal pole. On May 20th, the heartbeat was in the 130s. At 8w6d, the u/s read the heartbeat at 170. The falling week, at just shy of 10 weeks, we heard the heartbeat for the first time, in the 170s again. I was measured at 10weeks, and the doctor decided we could start scheduling appts for every 3 weeks.

So, here we are in a nutshell, the last 2 days of my first trimester. Wednesday I will be 13 weeks, talk about a relief! We go in tomorrow for a check up, and are taking Ry this time (his first time to go) so he can hear the heartbeat.

I have been checking and waiting on this post!

I'm so happy for all three of you. I can't wait to hear Rylan's reaction to his new little brother or sister's heartbeat.

Love ya all!!!
